NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The visiting Fairfield Stags (8-1-0, 3-0-0 MAAC) ended Niagara's (5-2-1, 1-1-1 MAAC) six game unbeaten streak defeating the Purple and White 4-1 on Monteagle Ridge in MAAC women's soccer action.
 
How it Happened
Senior net minder, Maddie Crosbie, who was busy from the opening kickoff made five saves in the first half, including three in a three-minute span, but would allow a trio of Stags to score in the opening 45 minutes as Same Kersey, Caroline Kelly and Ashlyn Walsh each found the back of the net.
 
In the 36th minute, senior Emma Bough got Niagara on the board with her fourth goal of the season after receiving a cross from sophomore Isabella Mazzaferro. The goal was just one of three shots Niagara would get off in the first half.
 
After making a total of eight saves, including a big save on the initial penalty shot, the Stags would get their fourth and final goal of the contest by Crosbie in the 67th minute of action, giving the game its 4-1 final.
 
Niagara Notes
• Saturday marked the 36th meeting all-time between Niagara and Fairfield with the Stags improving to 22-21-2 in the series, including four wins in the last five meetings.
• Crosbie finished the game with 15 saves, the first Niagara keeper with 10 or more saves since Felicia Grufman made 13 stops in the 2023 season opener at Minnesota.
• Bough's tally in first half was her fourth of the season and 14th of her career.
• Mazzaferro has had a foot in nine of Niagara's 13 goals this season, including seven of the teams last nine goals.
