NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – Niagara (5-3-1, 1-2-1 MAAC) dropped its second-straight match on Saturday, falling to Merrimack (4-5-1, 2-2-0 MAAC) 1-0 in conference action from Monteagle Ridge.
How it Happened
Niagara and Merrimack would go into the break scoreless despite the the two teams combining for a total of 12 shots in the opening 45 minutes of play. The Warriors took seven shots in the first half, including four on goal that were saved by senior goalie
Maddie Crosbie.
The Purple and White failed to get a shot on goal in the first half of action.
NU took six shots in the first seven minutes of the half, including shots on goal from
Emma Bough and
Isabella Mazzaferro, but it would be Merrimack who found the back of the net first as the Warriors got behind Crosbie for the easy goal in the 61st minute.
From there, Niagara would look to find the equalizer in the final 30-minutes, but would only test the Warrior keeper on two occasions, the first from over 20 yards out on a shot by
Sophia Guagliano and the second a slow roller off the foot of Bough in the final five minutes of play.

• Saturday marked the first ever meeting between Niagara and Merrimack.
• Crosbie made seven saves, giving her five or more in each of NU's four league games this season.
• Niagara took a season-low two corner kicks.
• Bough took a total of seven shots, the most by a Purple Eagle in a game this season.
• Merrimack is the first opponent to hold Niagara scoreless on its home turf since Marist and Purple Eagles played to a 0-0 tie on Sep. 23, 2023.
