NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – Niagara volleyball dropped its non-conference match against Bucknell in straight sets, 25-14, 25-16, and 25-19, Saturday afternoon inside the Gallagher Center.
How it Happened
The Bison recorded a .317 hitting percentage with 16 kills in the first set, compared to just a .071 percentage and nine kills for the Purple and White. Bri Frazilus recorded a set-high eight kills for Bucknell, while Niagara was led by
Liana Tolliver and Peyton Lee who tallied three apiece prior to the media timeout where Bucknell had a narrow 15-13 margin. From there, the Bison would roll, taking 10 of the final 11 points of the set.
In set two, Tolliver would notch three of NU's 10 kills in the frame, followed by Lee,
Laryssa Imbuzeiro, and
Kinga Wronska with two apiece, however, Bucknell once again out-hit the Purple Eagles en route to a 25-16 set win. Frazilus recorded seven of her match-best 20 kills to give Bucknell a two-set lead.
The third set saw Niagara jump out to an early lead and hold a 15-14 advantage at the media timeout, but the Bison responded with a 6-1 run to take a 20-15 advantage and eventually take the set 25-19.
Victoria Latino paced the Niagara attack with four kills while Tijana Kostic and Frazilus notched five apiece for Bucknell to help the Bison earn the sweep.
Niagara Notes
• The Purple Eagles fall to 2-6 all-time against Bucknell.
• Tolliver and Lee led Niagara with six kills apiece, followed by Wronska and Latino with five.
• Latino's four kills in set three were a team-high on the afternoon.
• Imbuzeiro and
Sydney Wilkes recorded three blocks apiece. Imbuzeiro leads NU with 29 blocks on the season giving her 339 for her career, 11 away from matching Tricia Traczyk (1997-00) for fifth most all-time.

Kylie Blessing led Niagara with 16 assists, followed by
Noel Perkins with 13.

Bella Peroni had a team-best 18 digs moving her season total to 147, more than twice as many than the next Purple Eagle.
