BUFFALO, N.Y. – Buffalo (4-7, 0-0 MAC) defeated Niagara (2-7, 0-0 MAAC) in four sets, 23-25, 30-28, 25-9, 25-8, in the 40th meeting all-time between the two progams Wednesday night.
How it Happened
The Purple and White took the first four points of the opening set, but Buffalo stormed back taking eight of the next 10 points to take an 8-6 lead over Niagara.
Janiah Robinson and
Sydney Wilkes tied the set with back-to-back kills, but UB responded with an 8-3 run to take a 15-11 lead into the media timeout.
From there Niagara would trail by as much as five, 20-15, before an 8-4 spurt put NU down by one 24-23 before UB secured the opening set 25-24.
The second set saw neither squad take more than a three-point advantage and with Niagara down 20-17 late in the set it would take three-straight points including kills from
Kinga Wronska and
Laryssa Imbuzeiro to tie the match at 20. The two teams would trade points until a kill from Imbuzeiro, a block from
Payton Lee helped Niagara secure the final three points and the set, 30-28.
The last two sets were all UB, as the Bulls dominated the Purple and White en route to 25-9 and 25-8 set wins and the 3-1 match win.

• Niagara is now 3-37 all-time against Buffalo.
• Niagara has won all five of its sets played this season that have gone past 25 points.

Liana Tolliver led Niagara with 11 kills, including a match-high five in set two. It was the second time this season the junior has collected double-digit kills.
• Imbuzeiro, Lee and Wilkes finished with a pair of blocks.

Noel Perkins led Niagara with 15 assists and has a team-high 43 over the last three matches.
•
Bella Peroni, the MAAC leader in digs per set totaled 20 in the four-set match.
