NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The University at Albany took home a 3-2 win Thursday night over Niagara men's soccer as the Purple Eagles surrendered an own goal in the waning moments of the contest to give the Great Danes the victory from Niagara Field. Niagara's
Felix Kogler scored both Purple Eagle goals in the loss.
How It Happened
The Great Danes opened the scoring in the third minute of play when Pedro Lucas found the back of the net after being set up by teammates Timo Jansen and Lucas Watt.
The Purple and White would even the scoring in the 16th minute of action when
Felix Kogler rifled one into the back of the net for his first goal of the season.
The game would remain tied until the 72nd minute when Jansen gave UAlbany the lead with a goal from 25-yards out.
Niagara caught a break in the 84th minute when the Great Danes were called for a handball that led to Koglers second tally of the contest.
However, the Purple Eagles, who played the final 15-plus minutes of the contest a man down would watch a ball go off the foot of one of their own with four minutes to go, giving UAlbany the lead and the game its 3-2 final.
Niagara Notes
• Thursday's meeting with UAlbany was the second in as many seasons between the two schools. The Great Danes lead the series 2-0.
• After his two-goal effort, Kogler has eight goals in his Purple Eagle career. The contest also marked the second time Kogler scored twice in a contest.

Jamie Barry made eight saves, one shy of his career-high of nine set last season.
