NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Niagara women's soccer program picked up its first win of the season on Sunday, defeating visiting Mercyhurst 2-0 to improve to 1-1 on the young season. The Lakers fall to 0-2.
How it Happened
The Purple Eagles broke the scoreless draw in the 24th minute when
Isabella Mazzaferro worked her way around the 18-yard box before lofting the ball off the crossbar and into the net for her first tally of the season.

The Purple and White would get a chance to build on its lead early in the second half as a corner resulted in two shot opportunities for
Emma Bough, but the captain couldn't get either effort past the Mercyhurst goalie.
Mazzaferro found the woodwork once again in the 55th minute, however, this one resulted in a corner attempt for the Purple Eagles.
