NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – Niagara (10-3, 3-2 MAAC) earned dominating 17-7 win over the visiting Marist Red Foxes (3-9, 2-3 MAAC) on Saturday in MAAC women's lacrosse action as four Purple Eagles recorded three or more goals, led by five from
Andra Savage.
Lexi Braniecki and
Maddy Gill added four goals apiece, while
Lois Garlow recorded three tallies, and
Rachel Crane added one in the win.
Riley Latray finished with a team-best three assists,
Sydney Huhtala had three caused turnovers and
Jordan Roy, who recorded four saves in goal, had four ground balls. Crane had a game-high seven draw controls.
Olivia Arnsten recorded two goals for the Red Foxes, while five other players recorded at least one tally in the loss. Megan Morris finished the game with 11 saves while surrendering 17 goals.
How it Happened
The Purple Eagles jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter, keeping the Red Foxes off the board in the first frame, while Savage, Braniecki, Crane and Gill, each found the back of the net at least once for Niagara.
Marist would get on the board in the second quarter and trade goals with Niagara over the course of the quarter as the Purple and White took an 8-3 lead into the break.
Niagara would score five-straight in the third quarter to take a 13-3 lead as Gill and Braniecki scored twice and Garlow capped off the run for the Purple Eagles. Marist would score as the quarter came to a close to make it a nine goal Niagara lead heading into the final stanza.
The fourth began with Marist's fifth goal of the game before Niagara struck for two-straight from, both of which came from Savage.
Marist would halt the running clock one last time with a goal from Arnsten at the 9:29 mark. Niagara would then take an 11-goal lead as Gill scored her fourth of the contest and Garlow completed the hat trick with her 34th of the season.
Marist would get one back but the running clock helped Niagara seal the 10-goal victory over the Red Foxes.

• Niagara improves to 11-18 all-time against Marist.
• Savage recorded her 100th career goal with her fourth tally of the contest, becoming the 11th Purple Eagle to reach the century mark.
• Latray's three assists gives her 83 for her career, tying her with Jen Austin for second most in program history.
• Huhtala recorded her fifth-straight and 11th game this season with at least three caused turnovers. The Baldwinsville, N.Y., native now has 80 career caused turnovers, 11 from tying Lauren Pauls program record of 91.
• Crane led Niagara with seven draw controls, giving her 154 for her career, one behind Paige Matecki for fourth most all-time.
• Roy now has 93 saves on the season after her four-save performance Saturday.
