LOUDONVILLE, N.Y.— Niagara volleyball fought back after dropping the first set to defeat Siena in four sets (18-25, 25-21, 25-9, 29-27) Saturday afternoon at the UHY Center.
How it Happened
The Purple Eagles (14-14, 10-7 MAAC) were led by
Kinga Wronska's match-high 14 kills on .275 hitting. Wronska was particularly dominant in the decisive third set where Niagara hit .424 as a team while holding Siena to just .030.
After a slow start in the opening frame, Niagara's offense found its rhythm behind setter
Kylie Blessing, who finished with 22 assists.
Liana Tolliver added nine kills while
Laryssa Imbuzeiro contributed eight kills and four block assists.
The Purple Eagles showed their resilience in a back-and-forth fourth set that featured 20 tie scores. With the score knotted at 27, Niagara closed out the match with back-to-back kills from Imbuzeiro and Wronska.
Defensively, libero
Bella Peroni anchored the back row with 23 digs as Niagara held Siena to .192 hitting for the match. The Purple Eagles also posted eight team blocks, led by Wronska's involvement in five.
