EMMITSBURG, Md. – Despite a combined 10 goals from
Lexi Braniecki and
Lois Garlow, Niagara (6-4, 0-1 MAAC) fell to Mount St. Mary's (2-7, 1-0 MAAC) 15-14 in overtime Saturday afternoon in MAAC women's lacrosse action from Waldron Family Field.
Game Recap
First Quarter
• After Mount scored the opening goal of the contest less than a minute in,
Andra Savage found Braniecki for Niagara's first tally of the contest, tying the game at 1-1.
• Mount St. Mary's would take a 3-1 lead with 7:45 remaining after back-to-back goals against Niagara's starting goalie Jordon Roy.
• Braniecki would tally her second goal of the afternoon to get Niagara within one, 3-2, with 2:57 remaining in the opening frame.
• The Purple Eagles would take two potential game-tying shots before the end of the first, including one as the clock expired from Savage.
Second Quarter
• The Mountaineers would strike first in the second quarter to go back up by two, 4-2, but it wouldn't take long for the Purple and White to get the goal back as Garlow found the back of the net for the 22nd time on the season.
• Less than two minutes later, Braniecki would record her third goal of the game on a free-position attempt, to tie the game at 4-4.
• After three-straight goals that gave Mount St. Mary's a 7-4 lead, Niagara would sub
Emma Mielke into goal.
• Braniecki registered her fourth goal of the game and
Jenna Brill found the back of the net for the first time to put NU down one, 7-6.
• With 45 seconds left in the half
Rachel Crane would tie the game at 7-7 on a free-position goal.
Third Quarter
• Mount scored the first goal of the second half, but Garlow would notch her second of the game to tie the game at 8-8.
• After back-to-back goals by the Mountaineers, R. Crane and Garlow would add to their goal totals on the afternoon to tie the game at 10, but Mount would once again respond to retake the lead, 11-10.
• Down 12-10, the Purple and White would get goals from Braniecki, Garlow and Savage to take their first lead of the contest, 13-12 as the quarter expired.
Fourth Quarter
• After Mount opened the scoring in the third to tie the game at 13-13, Garlow would get a pass from
Riley Latray to tally her fifth marker of the contest and put NU back on top by one, 14-13 with 8:15 to play.
• Mount St. Mary's would tie the game at 14-14 with just under three-minutes to play.

Amber Daley would force a turnover with 1:18 on the clock and after a successful clear attempt the Purple Eagles would call timeout with 59-seconds remaining.
• Niagara would run the clock down for the final shot, but the long attempt from Latray went wide.
Overtime
• Mount St. Mary's would score the game winner with 1:50 remining in the extra frame.
Niagara Notes
• Niagara fell to 2-4 all-time against Mount St. Mary's.
• Saturday marked the second overtime game this season for NU.
• Garlow and Braniecki each notched five goals on the afternoon and now lead the team with 26 on the year.
• Garlow is now three goals shy of 100 career tallies after netting a season-high five.
• Braniecki's seven points surpassed her previous season-high of six set vs. Binghamton.
• Niagara went 17-for-18 on clear attempts, won 13 draw controls and caused 11 turnovers.
• R. Crame led NU with three draws and three ground balls, while
Jess Foley and
Sydney Huhtala both recorded three caused turnovers.
• Foley's three caused turnovers is a career-best for the Camillus, N.Y., native.
• Mielke, who came in during the second quarter, made three saves.
