Edinson, N.J.—The MAAC announced on Tuesday the honorees for the Rawlings Baseball Weekly Honors. Niagara pitcher Marcus Cashman earned his first honor of the season as he was named Pitcher of the Week.
In his first outing of the season, he went five scoreless innings while allowing just two hits. The Purple Eagles earned their first win of season as Cashman struckout seven. He picked up his first win of the season as Niagara went on to win 6-1. He held opposing hitters to a .125 average. It is the first time in Cashman's career in which he won his first start of the season.
Niagara opened the season with it's first series win as they won games two and three of the series. It is the first time since 2008 in which Niagara won its season opening series.
The Purple Eagles are back in action this weekend as they play a four game set against George Mason starting Friday.
