Softball Welcomes Marist, Quinnipiac

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – The Purple Eagles welcome Marist and Quinnipiac to Western New York this weekend to begin Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action.

Saturday's contest with the Red Foxes will now take place at Niagara Falls High School. First pitch of the twin bill is scheduled for 12 p.m., with game two approximately 30-minutes after the conclusion of game one. Sunday's bout with Quinnipiac will be played on campus with first pitch at 11 a.m.
 
Last Time Out
• St. Bonaventure took both games of a doubleheader on Thursday in Olean.
• The Bonnies outscored NU 12-0 over the two games.
 
Niagara Notes
• Niagara enters the weekend 4-9 overall with a team batting average of .270 and ERA of 5.01.
Kelsey Harrigan leads NU with a .395 average, followed by Maggie Kellner (.350) and Samantha Hare (.289).
• Harrigan also leads the Purple and White with 17 hits, 43 at bats and 23 total bases, while sharing the team lead with nine RBI with Hare.
• Kellner ranks first on the team with seven doubles, second with 14 base hits and third with .525 slugging percentage.
• Niagara has three home runs on the season, all coming off the bat of Hare.
Riley Crum and Bayleigh McCullough pace Niagara with six free passes apiece.
• In the circle, Crum has a team-best 1.98 ERA.
Cara Leone leads NU with 25.1 innings pitched, followed by Maddie Hickingbottom with 24.2 innings. Hickingbottom also leads the Purple Eagles with 36 strikeouts while Leone has fanned 14.
• Niagara scored a season-high nine runs in its win over Merrimack back on March 11 and season-best 15 hits against LIU later that same day.
 
Series History: Marist
• Niagara is 3-7 in the last 10 meetings with the Red Foxes.
• Saturday will mark the first meeting between the two MAAC teams since May 10, 2019 in the MAAC Championship Tournament.
• NU's last win over Marist came on May 5, 2019 by the final score of 1-0.
 
Series History: Quinnipiac
• Niagara and Quinnipiac have met 16 times since the Bobcats joined the league in 2013.
• The Bobcats hold a 10-6 advantage over Niagara in those meetings.
• The two teams have split the last 10 meetings with Niagara winning three of the last five.
• The Purple Eagles and Bobcats split the 2021 season-series.
