No. 18 Jacksonville Tops Niagara

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. –  Niagara (1-1) was topped by Jacksonville (2-1) 20-2 Sunday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action from Jacksonville, N.Y.

Game Recap
First Quarter
• Jacksonville scored the game's first goal, putting Niagara in an early 1-0 hole.
• The Dolphins would score five more goals before Rachel Crane scored for Niagara, making the score 6-1.
• Jacksonville added two more goals before the first quarter came to a close.
• Niagara only had one other shot on goal in the first, with a total of three shots being fired off by NU.
Maren Geiger replaced Michelle Messenger in net toward the end of the first.

Second Quarter
• The Dolphins scored three more times in the first three minutes of the second. 
• Jacksonville scored its 12th goal of the game and sixth in a row at the 10:22 mark of the second.
• With 2:52 remaining in the first half, the Purple Eagles would finally end the Dolphins run with a goal from Jaclyn Crane.
• The hometown Dolphins would add one more before the half, making the score 13-2.

Third Quarter
• Jacksonville continued to add to its lead to start the second half, scoring twice in the first four minutes.
• The lead for the Dolphins would grow to 18-2, heading into the final 15-minutes of action.
• The Purple and White failed to record a shot in the third. 

Fourth Quarter
• Despite NU putting three shots on goal in the final stanza, the Purple Eagles could not find the back of the net.
• Jacksonville added two goals in the frame to give the game its 20-2 final.

Niagara Notes
• Jacklyn Crane's goal in the second quarter was the first of her collegiate career.
• Niagara took a total of 10 shots and had eight go on target. Eliza Wild and R. Crane finished with two shots on goal apiece.
• The Purple and White had 12 ground balls, with R. Crane collecting a team-best three. The junior also registered two of NU's three caused turnovers.
• R. Crane registered a goal in each of Niagara's games in Florida.  
• Messenger (3) and Geiger (2) combined to stop five shots.
Lois Garlow recorded three of Niagara's six draw controls. 

Up Next
• The Purple and White will return to the Empire State and travel to West Point to take on Army on Thursday, Feb. 24. The opening draw is scheduled for 4 p.m.
