The Purple Eagles (6-7, 1-3 MAAC) host crosstown rival Canisius (5-9, 1-2 MAAC) for the first installment of the Battle of the Bridge on Thursday, Jan. 13 at 7:00 p.m. This will be the first meeting between NU and the Griffs since the 2019-20 season.
Last Time Out
• The Purple Eagles picked up their first conference victory of the season when they defeated Quinnipiac, 76-66, on Sunday, Jan. 9.

Noah Thomasson dropped a career-high 21 points in the win. He went 8-for-12 from the field and 3-for-5 from 3-point range, which are both career-bests. He also dished out a team-high five assists.

Jordan Cintron added 14 points and a season-high four steals. He also brought down five rebounds.

Sam Iorio led the Purple Eagles in rebounding with 11 boards.

Rob Brown III and
Greg Kuakumensah each added 11 points for NU. Brown III went a perfect 3-for-3 from 3-point range.
• The Purple Eagles shot 46.4 percent from the field (26-for-56) and outscored the Bobcats, 53-39, in the second half.

Marcus Hammond reached 1,000 career points at Colgate on Nov. 29. Hammond needed three points entering the game and scored five quick points, earning his 1,000th point on a 3-pointer.

Sam Iorio surpassed 1,000 career points against St. Thomas on Nov. 20. Iorio entered the game needing 11 points to reach the milestone. He scored 15 points, earning his 1,000th point on a free throw.

Rising Star
• Head coach
Greg Paulus was named to The Athletic's 40 Under 40: Rising Stars in Men's College Basketball list, released by the publication on Nov. 23.
• Paulus, 35, is in his third season at the helm of the Niagara University men's basketball program. In Paulus' tenure, Niagara has become one of the most competitive teams in the MAAC and he has helped bring national attention to the NU program.

Milestones Reached
•Â
Sam Iorio reached 500 career rebounds as the Purple Eagles took on Fairfield on Dec. 5. He needed seven rebounds entering the game and brought down exactly seven.
•Â
Jordan Cintron surpassed 500 career rebounds in NU's game versus Buffalo State on Dec. 12. He needed two boards to reach the milestone and recorded seven in the game.

Modern-Era Magic
• The Purple Eagles earned their largest victory of the modern era as a Division I program when they defeated Buffalo State by 60 points, 112-52, on Dec. 12. Niagara last defeated a team by 60 or more points during the 1914-15 season when it defeated Canisius, 78-11.
• Six Purple Eagles scored in double figures;
Justin Roberts led the team in scoring with 17 points,
Marcus Hammond added 14 points,
Rob Brown III scored a career-high 13 points,
Julian Mackey and
Nicholas Kratholm each had a career-high 12 points and
Touba Traore scored a career-best 10 points.

Julian Mackey led the team in steals with four, which is his career-best, and
Noah Thomasson dished out a career-high six assists.
• The Purple Eagles shot 61.3 percent from the field (46-for-75).
