NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY. – Niagara, led by a five-goal performance by
Shea Swartwout, defeated Quinnipiac by a final score of 14-12, Saturday afternoon. Junior goalie
Michelle Messenger made 14 saves between the pipes for the Purple Eagles.

SYNOPSIS
The Purple Eagles scored first and never relinquished the lead as three players scored multiple goals in this afternoon's win.

Niagara took an early 2-0 lead over the Bobcats as Swartwout scored the game's opening marker, followed by a goal from
Lexi Braniecki moments later. With Swartwout's second goal, she registered her 100th career goal and gave the Purple and White a 3-1 lead.

The Purple Eagles would outscore Quinnipiac 4-2 in the remaining portion of the first half. Swartwout finished the first half with three goals, while Braniecki scored twice in the first 30-minutes of play.
Rachel Crane and
Lois Garlow also scored for Niagara in the frame.

The second half started with Swartwout's fourth goal of the contest, giving Niagara an 8-4 lead. The Bobcats would pull within one, 8-7, after a 3-0 run highlighted by two goals from Megan Szawlowski.

The two teams traded tallies to make the score 9-8 before Niagara went on a 4-0 run to take a commanding 13-8 lead.
Allison McCormick scored twice during the Purple Eagle run, highlighted by a free-position goal with 10-minutes remaining in the game.Â

Swartwout scored her fifth and final goal with five minutes remaining in the contest, giving Niagara a five-goal lead. Quinnipiac would trim the Purple Eagle lead with a 3-0 run in the final five minutes; however, Niagara held on for the 14-12 Senior Day win.
