LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – The Purple Eagles defeated Siena, 3-1, on Wednesday afternoon.

Match Recap
1st Set
  • The Saints had an early 7-5 lead in the first set, but a kill and an ace from Lexi Bapst tied the score, 7-7.
  • Siena scored four straight points to reclaim the lead, 11-7. Back-to-back kills from Jaycie Roberts left Niagara trailing by just two points, 11-9.
  • Another kill from Bapst kept NU within two points of the Stags, 15-13, but the Saints scored six straight points to extend their lead, 21-13.
  • Niagara answered with a 4-0 run, including two more kills from Bapst, to trail the Saints by just four, 21-17.
  • With the Saints leading 24-19, Niagara scored three straight points to come back within two, 24-22, but Siena earned the next point to win the set, 25-22.
2nd Set
  • Niagara jumped out to a quick lead in the second set, 6-1.
  • Two kills from Roberts and an ace from Casey Brown helped the Purple Eagles extend their lead, 10-2.
  • Leading 14-7, the Purple Eagles scored seven straight points to take a 14-point lead, 21-7.
  • Niagara allowed the Saints just six more points in the set. The Purple Eagles won the set, 25-13, to tie the match at one set apiece.
3rd Set
  • The Purple Eagles and the Saints traded points to open the third set. The Purple Eagles led by one, 6-5, before the Saints earned four straight points to take the lead, 9-5.
  • With the Saints leading by two, 11-9, the Purple Eagles scored four straight points, capped by kills from Brown and Bapst, to take the lead, 13-11.
  • Niagara and Siena continued to trade points. With Niagara ahead by four, 20-16, the Saints went on a 7-0 run to take a 23-20 lead.
  • Kills from Bapst and Savannah Brownfield put Niagara down by just one, 23-22.
  • The Saints scored one more point, but the Purple Eagles closed out the set with four straight points. Niagara won the set, 26-24.
4th Set
  • Siena had a one-point lead, 5-4, in the third set but a kill and an ace from Jaycie Roberts put Niagara ahead by one, 6-5.
  • The Saints scored four straight points to reclaim the lead, 9-6.
  • With Siena ahead, 13-9, the Purple Eagles went on a 3-0 run to leave them trailing by just one point, 13-12.
  • The Saints scored another point, but kills from Roberts and Taylor Allen tied the score, 14-14.
  • Siena got back ahead, 16-14, but Niagara earned four points to take the lead, 18-16.
  • The Purple Eagles dominated the remainder of the set, allowing the Saints just three more points and scoring five straight points to close out the fourth set and earn the 3-1 win.

Eagle's Eye On
  • Roberts had a double-double with 16 kills, which was a team-high, and 12 digs.
  • Bapst recorded the first double-double of her career with 12 kills and 13 digs.
  • Darling had a team-high 23 digs, which is her career-high.
  • Allen led the team in blocking with six total blocks. Her five solo blocks are a career-high.
  • Jessica Streuer had a team-high 24 assists. Brown added 21 assists.
  • Seminoff added 14 digs for the Purple Eagles.
