Niagara Athletics Posts Outstanding 3.49 Fall Term GPA

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Niagara's student-athletes combined for a phenomenal 3.49 grade point average (GPA) for the fall 2020 semester.

"Our scholar-athletes have not only maintained their academic excellence during these challenging semesters, but have steadfastly improved," said Director of Athletics Simon Gray. "Their resilience and determination is remarkable and a testament to their focus on graduating."

Men's cross country finished the term with a team GPA of 3.7, which led all men's teams. Women's tennis led the way for the women with a team GPA of 3.64.

All of Niagara's 18 athletic programs recorded a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the fall term – baseball (3.57), men's basketball (3.45), women's basketball (3.38), men's cross country (3.7), women's cross country (3.62), women's track and field (3.56), men's golf (3.34), women's golf (3.07), hockey (3.6), women's lacrosse (3.59), men's soccer (3.31), women's soccer (3.49), softball (3.52), men's swimming and diving (3.29), women's swimming and diving (3.51), men's tennis (3.41), women's tennis (3.64) and volleyball (3.51).

The Purple Eagles had 34 student-athletes who earned a 4.0 in the fall and 303 student-athletes finished the semester with a 3.0 or higher.

After the fall semester, Niagara's cumulative GPA for student-athletes is a 3.42.
