NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Niagara scored seven times to defeat the visiting Air Force Falcons, 7-2, on Sunday.
Game Recap
1st Period
• Niagara opened the scoring Sunday evening with a power play goal when
Ryan Cox slotted one past the Falcon goalie.
Chris Harpur and
Brandon Stanley were credited with the assists.
• Air Force evened the score 4:27 later as Jacob Marti rifled a slap-shot past
Mike Corson.
• The Purple Eagles reclaimed the lead moments later as
Josef Mysak scored from the slot for his first goal of the season. He was assisted by
Justin Kendall.
• Niagara scored its third goal of the period when
Ryan Naumovski sent a rebound into the back of the net.
Christian Gorscak and
Brandon Stanley were credited with the helpers on the play.
2nd Period
• The Purple Eagles came out swinging in the second, forcing an early turnover, which resulted in Cox's second goal of the game. Gorscak and Stanley were awarded their team-high second assists of the night.

Croix Evingson scored on the power play for his first goal as a Purple Eagle. The tally was assisted by
Walker Sommer and
Jack Billings and gave Niagara a 5-1 lead.
• Air Force would record more shots in the period, but Corson stood tall and made 10 saves to keep Niagara up by four.
3rd Period
• The Falcons cut the NU lead to 5-2 with a power play goal from Nate Horn just 35 seconds into the final period.
• Niagara answered right back, scoring twice in a 30-second span to take a commanding 7-2 lead. The first goal was scored by
Eric Cooley, while Mysak scored the second.
• Air Force had its third goal of the game taken off the board following a replay review.
• Corson finished the contest with 32 saves to earn his second win of the season.
Inside the Numbers
• NU's seven goals was its most since a 7-3 win over Mercyhurst on Jan 18, 2019.
• Niagara scored twice on the power play for the second time this season.
• The Purple Eagles scored three goals in the opening period for the third time this season.
• Cox's goal in the second period was the Purple Eagles' first short-handed goal of the season.
• With his assist on the Evingson goal, Brandt became the first Niagara player to record a point in five straight games since
Ben Sokay in 2019.
