Women's Swimming & Diving Announces 10 Newcomers

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Niagara women's swimming and diving head coach Eric Bugby has announced 10 additions to the team for the 2020-21 season.

Jillian de Reyna | Free | Port Washington, NY | Paul D Schreiber Senior High School
De Reyna joins the Purple Eagles after a decorated high school swimming career. She was a state qualifier in both the 200 and 400 free relays. She was an All-Conference, All-Division and All-County selection. She served as a team captain in 2019 and was the recipient of the Coaches' Award in 2018. She also competed with the Long Island Aquatic Club and has been a Junior Olympics qualifier since 2016.

Julia Dewhurst | Fly | Port Jervis, NY | Minisink Valley
Dewhurst joins the Purple Eagles from Minisink Valley High School. She was named the Rookie of the Year for her high school team in 2016. Dewhurst was a member of the Aqua Gems of Minisink Valley club team. While with the Aqua Gems, she earned the Most Dedicated Award (2016-17), the Ron Olsen Memorial Award (2017-18) and was named the club's MVP for the 2018-19 season. Dewhurst also excelled in the classroom and was a three-time high honor roll honoree.

Maggie Hennebaul | Diving | Brasleton, GA | Mountain View High School
Hennebaul comes to Monteagle Ridge all the way from Brasleton, Georgia. Hennebaul excelled for her high school team and was a record-holder for three years in a row and was a three-time county and state qualifier. She placed in the top five in her county for three straight years. Hennebaul competed at the club level with the Georgia Diving Club. In addition to diving, Hennebaul also competed in gymnastics for 13 years.

Moana Houde-Camirand | Fly/Free | Gatineau, QC | New Mexico State University
Houde-Camirand joins the Purple Eagles after two season at New Mexico State. Camirand posted career-best times in both the 1000 free (10:28.51) and 500 free (5:02.88) during her freshman season with the Aggies. Houde-Camirand attended high school at Ecole secondaire de l'lle and competed at the club level with Greater Ottawa Kingfish Swimming.

Gianna Ianniello | Back/Free | Niagara Falls, NY | Niagara Falls High School
Ianniello is a local product, joining the Purple Eagles from Niagara Falls High School. Ianniello was a two-time Niagara Frontier League (NFL) champion in the 200 medley relay and was also an NFL champion in the 100 back. She was also a five-time sectional qualifier. Ianniello was also part of the White Water Swim Club.

Sydney James | Free | Havre de Grace, MD | Havre de Grace High School
James comes to Niagara after a decorated high school swimming career. She was a regional champion at the 2018 MPSSAA North Swim Championships and placed third in the 500 free and fifth in the 200 free at the 2018 MPSSAA 3A2A1A state meet. James placed second in the 500 free at the 2019 MPSSAA North Swim Championships and fifth in the 500 free and eighth in the 200 free at the 2019 MPSSAA 2A2A1A state meet. She competed at the club level with Arena Club Aquatics. With her club team, James qualified for the Maryland LSC State Championships short course seven years in a row and long course eight years in a row. She competed at the VA TT EZ Southern Regional Speedo Sectionals in 2016, 2017 and 2018. James also excelled in the classroom. She was an honor roll student and was a member of both the National Honor Society and the Science National Honor Society.

Kayla Kreger | IM | Sylvania, OH | Saint Ursula Academy
Kreger joins the Purple Eagles from Saint Ursula Academy in Toledo, Ohio. Kreger also swam for the Greater Toledo Aquatic Club. Kreger was instrumental for her team in winning events at the state championships and scored points for the team in all her events. She was two-time Ohio state qualifier and was a First Team All-TRAC honoree. She holds her club team's breast record. Kreger also competed in cross country and track and was an All-Academic and President's List honoree.

Lexi Madden | Diving | Lockport, NY | Lockport High School
Madden joins the Purple Eagles from Lockport High School. Madden was the captain of her diving team. She was ranked 16th in New York State Section VI and was ranked third in the Niagara Frontier League. She also competed in track and field as a pole vaulter.

Sasha Shandrenko | Fly/Free | New Market, MD | Oakdale High School
Shandrenko comes to NU from Oakdale High School in Maryland. In addition to competing with her high school team, Shandrenko dove for the Monocacy Aquatic Club. She qualified for both sectionals and states with her club team. Shandrenko also turned in strong performances in the classroom. She was an honor roll student and was named an AP Scholar. She was also a member of the Science National Honor Society.

Amanda Silva | Breast/Free | Tarpon Springs, FL | Tarpon Springs Senior High School
Silva comes to Niagara after a strong high school and club career. With her high school team, Silva placed fifth in the 2017 FHSAA 2A State Championships. She placed sixth in the breaststroke at the 2018 FHSAA 2A State Championships. Silva had multiple top-10 finishes at regionals over her four years at Tarpon Springs. She earned a first place finish in the 100 breast in 2018. Silva was named the Most Valuable Swimmer in both 2016 and 2017 and was the Female Freshman of the Year in 2016. She competed at the club level with Clearwater Aquatic Team. With her club team, she competed at the Florida Swimming Senior Long Course Championships and at the Florida CAT American Junior Nationals. She earned multiple top-20 finishes at both events.
