PULLMAN, Wash. – Niagara was defeated by Washington State, 15-2, in its final game of a four-game series with the Washington State Cougars.

Game Recap

• Washington State took a 3-0 lead over the Purple Eagles with a three-run homerun in the bottom of the first inning.
• In the top of the second inning, Spencer Marcus doubled to right center field, advancing to third base on the throw and scoring Michael Gabriele to cut the Cougars' lead to two, 3-1.
• An RBI single from Matt Zaremba in the top of the fourth left Niagara trailing by just one run, 3-2.
• The Cougars, however, dominated the rest of the game, adding three runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, three in the sixth, three in the seventh and two in the eighth to earn the 15-2 victory and sweep the series with Niagara.

Eagle's Eye On…

• Marcus led the Purple Eagles in hits with two, including one double.
• Marcus and Zaremba each had one RBI.
• Gabriele, Benny Serrano and Cole Tucker each had one hit.
• Mike Brisson had one stolen base.
• Zapata-Baez took the loss in his first career start. He fanned two, walked three and gave up four hits and four earned runs in 3.1 innings pitched.
