FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Purple Eagles fell to the Fairfield Stags, 71-49, to close out the regular season on Saturday.

Game Recap
First Quarter
  • Emerald Ekpiteta and Jordan Edwards combined for eight of Niagara's 10 first quarter points.
  • Niagara went on a 4-0 run to close out the quarter, including buckets from Edwards and Valentina Pepic, but NU trailed the Stags, 16-10, going into the second quarter.
Second Quarter
  • A basket from Jai Moore to open the quarter extended Niagara's run to six points but Fairfield answered with a 7-0 run to take a 23-12 lead over the Purple Eagles.
  • With 2:30 left in the half, a 3-pointer from Morgan Baughman cut Fairfield's lead to seven points, 28-21.
  • Five straight points from McIntyre closed out scoring for NU in the second quarter and Niagara trailed the Stags by eight points, 34-26, at halftime.
Third Quarter
  • Moore added eight points in the first six and a half minutes of the third quarter but Niagara trailed the Stags by 12, 49-37, with about two and a half minutes to go.
  • With 40 seconds to go, McIntyre sank another triple.
  • Sydeny Faulcon added two more points for the Purple Eagles. The Stags led Niagara, 56-52, after 30 minutes of play.
Fourth Quarter
  • Moore scored all of Niagara's seven fourth quarter points.
  • The Stags held the Purple Eagles scoreless in the final 5:48 of the game to come away with the 71-49 victory.

Eagle's Eye On…
  • Moore led Niagara in scoring with 19 points.
  • McIntyre added 10 points and a team-best two assists.
  • Ekpiteta led the Purple Eagles in rebounding with seven rebounds.
  • Baughman brought down five rebounds.

  • The Purple Eagles secured the No. 8 seed for the 2020 Hercules Tire MAAC Basketball Championships, which will be held March 10-14 at the Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. Niagara will face No. 9 Saint Peter's in the first round on Tuesday, March 10 at 9:30 a.m. The game will air on ESPN3.
