ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The eighth-seeded Purple Eagles took down the ninth-seeded Saint Peter's Peacocks, 64-53, in the first round of the MAAC Championships on Tuesday.

Game Recap
First Quarter
  • Niagara went on an 8-0 run to open the game, capped by a 3-pointer from Maggie McIntyre.
  • Saint Peter's scored five straight points but a triple from Angel Park and a bucket from Dagny Davidsdottir kept the Purple Eagles in the lead, 13-5, with three and a half minutes to go in the first quarter.
  • Niagara had a one-point lead over the Peacocks, 16-15, at the end of the quarter.
Second Quarter
  • The Peacocks took the lead, 17-16, after making two free throws with a little under eight minutes to go in the first half, but two foul shots from Sydney Faulcon put NU back on top, 18-17.
  • With a little under six minutes to go, Saint Peter's had a 21-18 lead over the Purple Eagles but a bucket from Jai Moore kept the Purple Eagles within one, 21-20.
  • Davidsdottir, Parker and Emerald Ekpiteta combined for the rest of Niagara's second quarter points. The Purple Eagles trailed the Peacocks, 29-24, at halftime.
Third Quarter
  • Baskets from Adia Brisker and Jordan Edwards brought Niagara back within one point of the Peacocks, 29-28, and a trey from Moore tied things up, 31-31, with a little over seven and a half minutes left in the third quarter.
  • A bucket from Davidsdottir put Niagara back in the lead, 33-31, but the Peacocks went on a 5-0 run to get ahead of the Purple Eagles once again, 36-33.
  • With about three minutes to go, Parker put the Purple Eagles back on top, 39-38.
  • Saint Peter's quickly took a one-point lead, 40-39, but the Purple Eagles went on an 8-0 run, including four points from Faulcon, and led the Peacocks, 47-43, at the end of the quarter.
Fourth Quarter
  • The score was tied twice early in the fourth quarter before the Purple Eagles began to pull away from the Peacocks.
  • A 5-0 run from the Purple Eagles gave them a five-point lead, 54-49, with about 4:45 left to play.
  • The Purple Eagles closed out the game on a 7-0 run to earn the 64-53 victory over the Peacocks and advance to the MAAC Tournament quarterfinals.

Eagle's Eye On…
  • Davidsdottir led the Purple Eagles in scoring with a career-high 16 points. She made a career-high seven field goals and she also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds to tie her career-best.
  • Moore added 11 points and brought down six rebounds.
  • Moore, McIntyre and Ally Haar each dished out three assists.
  • Ekpiteta led the team in steals with four.
