PULLMAN, Wash. – The Purple Eagles fell to Washington State, 10-6, in the third game of the teams' four-game series on Saturday.

Game Recap
  • The Cougars took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Two of the three runs were unearned.
  • In the top of the fourth, Michael Gabriele singled through the right side. Spencer Marcus was walked, advancing to second base on a failed pick-off attempt and giving Gabriele time to score to cut the Cougars' lead to two, 3-1.
  • Washington State added two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to extend its lead over the Purple Eagles, 6-1.
  • In the top of the seventh, Cole O'Connor singled to left center, scoring Marty Cole. Peter Battaglia singled through the left side, driving in two runs to cut the Cougars' lead back to two, 6-4.
  • The Cougars added another unearned run in the seventh and three more runs in the eighth to earn the 10-4 victory over Niagara.

Eagle's Eye On…
  • Gabriele and Dawson Bailey led the Purple Eagles in hits with two each.
  • Bailey and Marcus each had one double.
  • Bailey, Cole, O'Connor and Gabriele each scored one run.
  • Wiggins took the loss. He struck out one and gave up three hits and one earned run in 1.1 innings pitched.
  • Zach Cameron tossed the final 1.2 innings for the Purple Eagles. He fanned four and allowed three hits and two earned runs.
