BOISE, Idaho – The Purple Eagles fell to Boise State, 7-1, on Tuesday in the second game of a three-game series.

Game Recap
  • An RBI single from the Broncos gave them the 1-0 lead over the Purple Eagles in the bottom of the first inning.
  • Benny Serrano picked up NU's first hit of the game with a double to left center in the top of the second, but the Purple Eagles were unable to capitalize.
  • Another RBI single from Boise State extend its lead, 2-0, in the bottom of the fourth. A score on a balk in the sixth and a bases-loaded walk in the seventh put the Broncos ahead, 4-0.
  • Two RBI singles and an RBI double put Boise State ahead of Niagara, 7-0.
  • In the top of the ninth, Marty Cole doubled to left center, scoring Spencer Marcus to avoid the shutout. The Purple Eagles, however, were not able to overcome Boise State's lead and fell to the Broncos, 7-1.

Eagle's Eye On…
  • Cole, Serrano, Michael Gabriele and Cole O'Connor each had one hit.
  • Cole had one RBI.
  • Bruning took the loss on the mound. He fanned two and gave up six hits and two earned runs in 3.1 innings pitched.
