BOISE, Idaho – The Purple Eagles fell just short against the Boise State Broncos, 12-9, in the rubber match of a three-game series on Wednesday.

Game Recap
  • The Broncos got on the board first with an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning.
  • In the top of the second, an RBI single from Matt Zaremba tied the score, 1-1. Mike Brisson then tripled to right field to score Zaremba. It was Brisson's second triple of the series. Dawson Bailey then hit a sacrifice fly to plate Brisson and give Niagara the 3-1 advantage.
  • An RBI double from Boise State in the fourth frame left the Broncos trailing the Purple Eagles by one, 3-2.
  • The Broncos added four runs in the fifth inning to reclaim the lead, 6-3.
  • The Purple Eagles got back ahead, 7-6, in the top of the sixth thanks to a two-RBI double from Cole O'Connor, an RBI double from Peter Battaglia and an RBI single from Benny Serrano.
  • Boise state evened the score, 7-7, in the bottom of the sixth and scored five runs in the seventh inning to take a 12-7 lead over NU.
  • Niagara scored its final runs of the game in the top of the eighth off a two-RBI triple from Josh Marchese. It was Marchese's first career triple.

Eagle's Eye On…
  • Battaglia had a team-high three hits. Brisson and O'Connor each added two hits.
  • Marchese and O'Connor led the team in RBIs with two each.
  • Brisson and Zaremba each scored two runs.
  • Parranto took the loss on the mound. He fanned two and allowed three hits and two earned runs in 1.2 innings pitched.
