JERSEY CITY, N.J. – A late comeback lifted the Purple Eagles over Saint Peter's, 68-64, on Thursday night.

Game Recap
First Quarter
  • The Peacocks took an early 6-3 lead over Niagara but a 3-pointer from Maggie McIntyre tied things up, 6-6, with over seven minutes to play in the first quarter.
  • Saint Peter's went on a 5-0 run to take an 11-6 lead, but Niagara answered with a 9-0 run, capped by a triple from Emerald Ekpiteta, to give the Purple Eagles their first lead of the game, 15-11.
  • The Peacocks closed out the quarter on a 7-0 run and Niagara trailed Saint Peter's narrowly, 18-15, going into the second quarter.
Second Quarter
  • A bucket from Ekpiteta to open scoring in the second quarter put NU within one point of the Peacocks, 18-17.
  • The Peacocks extended their lead to four points, but two points from both Jai Moore and Ekpiteta quickly tied the score, 21-21.
  • With a little over six and a half minutes left in the first half, McIntyre sank her second trey of the game to tie the score once again, 26-26, but the Peacocks went on a 9-0 run to reclaim the lead, 36-27.
  • A free throw from McIntyre with a few seconds left in the half left the Purple Eagles trailing by just eight points, 36-28, at halftime.
Third Quarter
  • A triple from Morgan Baughman started the Purple Eagles on a 9-0 run to open the quarter to leave NU trailing Saint Peter's by just three points, 40-37, with a little under four and a half minutes to go.
  • The Peacocks answered with seven straight points to extend their lead to 10 points, 47-37, but two points from Adia Brisker, Ekpiteta, Jordan Edwards and Angel Parker left Niagara trailing by just six points, 51-45, at the end of the third quarter.
Fourth Quarter
  • Niagara went on a 6-0 run to open the fourth, including another triple from Baughman, to leave the Purple Eagles down by just three points, 54-51.
  • Four points from Sydney Faulcon put Niagara within one point of the lead, 56-55, with over four and a half minutes left to play.
  • After a bucket from Moore, NU trailed by two, with a little over three and a half minutes left in the quarter. Moore was then fouled on a 3-point attempt. She sank all three free throws to give Niagara the lead, 60-59.
  • Two foul shots from Parker and one from Ekpiteta gave NU a four-point lead, 63-59, with three minutes to play.
  • Baughman came up with a clutch blocked shot with about 15 seconds left in the quarter, forcing the Peacocks to foul, which sent Edwards to the line. Edwards sank both free throws and Niagara maintained the lead, coming away with the 68-64 victory to sweep the season series.

Eagle's Eye On…
  • Ekpiteta had a double-double with a team-high 14 points and 12 rebounds.
  • Moore and Parker each added 11 points. Parker also added six rebounds.
  • McIntyre had a team-high five steals for the Purple Eagles.
  • Baughman recorded a career-high three blocks.
