NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - Despite a strong defensive effort, the Niagara hockey team fell to Robert Morris, 6-1, on Thursday afternoon.

1st Period
• There was no score as the first period as the game went into the first media timeout. Niagara led in shots (12-3) and shots on goal (7-2) through the first 12:11 of action.
• The Purple Eagles' best chance in the first portion of the frame came on a breakaway from
Eric Cooley. The forward found himself 1-on-1 with Colonial goalie Noah West. However, he couldn't get the puck past the freshman netminder.
• The Purple Eagles went on the power play with 6:37 remaining in the opening period as Robert Morris was charged for hooking, but were unable to capitalize on the special teams opportunity.
• With time winding down in the first stanza, Robert Morris found the back of the net with just 36.8 seconds left. The goal was scored by Jordan Timmons, his seventh of the season.

2nd Period
• Niagara was charged with interference at the 11:20 mark of the period, giving Robert Morris its first power-play opportunity of the contest. Justin Addamo would convert the Colonials' power play, giving the visitors a 2-0 lead.
• Moments later, RMU would take a 3-0 advantage as Gavin Gulash scored.
• Nick Jenny scored the Colonials' third goal of the period and fourth of the game at the 19:51 mark, bringing the score to 4-0 heading into the final frame.

3rd Period
• Senior
Brian Wilson relieved Niagara's starting goalie
Mike Corson to begin the final 20 minutes of play. Corson finished with 17 saves in 40 minutes of action.
• Robert Morris would score twice in the opening three-plus minutes of the third period, with the second goal coming via the power play. The two goals extended the Colonials lead to 6-0.
• Niagara's
Walker Sommer scored on the power play to get the Purple Eagles on the board.
Jared Brandt and
Chris Harpur assisted the goal.Â

Inside the Numbers
• Sommer's goal in the third period was the redshirt-junior's team-leading fourth goal of the season.
• With his assist on the lone goal, Brandt now has a career-best four-game point streak.
• Niagara improved to 4-for-28 on the power play this season, converting one of its four opportunities today.
• The Purple Eagles recorded more shots (58-39), shots on goal (33-30), and won more faceoffs (34-32) in the loss.
