LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – The Purple Eagles dropped a close game to the Siena Saints, 59-54, on Thursday.

Game Recap
First Quarter
  • A triple from Jordan Edwards with a little over eight and a half minutes to go opened scoring for the Purple Eagles in the first quarter and gave them an early one-point lead, 3-2.
  • The Saints, however, went on an 11-0 run to take a 10-point lead over Niagara, 13-3.
  • Morgan Baughman and Emerald Ekpiteta each added two points and a trey from Adia Brisker left Niagara down by eight points, 18-10, at the end of the first quarter.
Second Quarter
  • The Purple Eagles began to close the gap in the second quarter and trailed by just two points, 20-18, after a three from Maggie McIntyre and a bucket from Valentina Pepic.
  • With about 30 seconds to go in the first half, Jai Moore was fouled at the 3-point line. Moore sank all three free throws and Niagara trailed by just one point, 25-24, going into halftime.
Third Quarter
  • In the first five and a half minutes of the third quarter, the Saints went on a 9-0 run to lead the Purple Eagles, 34-24.
  • Brisker scored four straight points to cut Siena's lead to six, 34-28, with a little over four minutes to go.
  • Baughman, Brisker and Ekpiteta each added two points in the remainder of the quarter but the Purple Eagles trailed the Saints, 43-34, at the end of the third.
Fourth Quarter
  • The Purple Eagles went on an 8-0 run to open the quarter, including five points from Pepic and three from Brisker to trail the Saints by just one point, 43-42, with over six minutes to go.
  • Siena got back ahead, 51-44, but four points from Brisker and a triple from Moore put Niagara within two points of the lead, 53-51, with just under one minute to play.
  • With less than one second to go, McIntyre sank a 3-pointer but it was not enough to overcome Siena as the Saints defeated the Purple Eagles, 59-54, to split the season series.

Eagle's Eye On…
  • Brisker led the Purple Eagles in scoring with 16 points, tying her career-high. She went a career-best 3-for-5 from the 3-point line. Brisker also added six rebounds.
  • Pepic led the team in rebounding with 10 rebounds to tie her career-high. She scored a season-best seven points.
  • Ekpiteta added eight points and seven rebounds.
  • McIntyre led the team in assists with three.
  • Edwards had a team-high three steals.

  • The Purple Eagles take on the Marist Red Foxes on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 7:00 p.m. in Poughkeepsie. The game will air live on ESPN3.
