JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Purple Eagles fell to the Saint Peter's Peacocks, 58-53, on Sunday to conclude their New Jersey road trip.
   
Game Summary
The Purple Eagles and Peacocks played in another close contest as the game was in the balance in the final minute.
 
Trailing 48-40 with four minutes remaining, the Purple Eagles closed the gap to 51-47 on a Justin Roberts 3-pointer with 1:47 on the clock. After turnovers by both teams, the Peacocks' Matthew Lee connected on a 3-pointer with 52 seconds left for a 54-47 lead. Niagara had a shot block on its next possession. After a missed free throw by Saint Peter's, the Purple Eagles had two 3-point shots rim out. Saint Peter's went 4-for-4 at the free-throw line in the final 24 seconds.
 
Niagara trailed 8-1 three minutes into the game, but tied the game at 9-9 at the 14-minute mark; it would be the only tie of the game. The Peacocks scored five straight points in a one minute span as part of a 12-4 run to build a 21-13 lead with eight minutes remaining in the half. A Greg Kuakumensah layup cut the lead to 26-20 with four minutes left, though the Peacocks closed the half on a 7-2 run for a 33-22 halftime lead.

  • Greg Kuakumensah led NU in points, rebounds, steals, and in blocks. He finished with 13 points on 6 of 12 shooting from the field, grabbed five rebounds, had two steals and one block.
