The Niagara softball team will hit the midway point MAAC competition this weekend with games against the Iona Gaels and Fairfield Stags. With six doubleheaders remaining in the regular season, the Purple Eagles are clawing for positioning in the playoff picture.
 
Niagara Notes

• The Purple Eagles have split each of their previous three series, most recently at Robert Morris on April 9.
• Maria Gabriele has recorded nine RBI in the team's past seven games. She is now tied with Jerri Ann Orfano for the team lead with 11. Her high in that stretch came on April 6, when she tagged Siena for five in the back end of the doubleheader.
• Sierra Bertrand's ERA of 4.52 leads the team's qualifying pitchers. Reliever Emily Johnston, who has thrown 22.0 full frames, holds a 2.86 ERA and has kept opposing hitters to a .266 batting average.

 
Scouting The Gaels

• Iona comes into the weekend on a tear, having won three of their last four games by way of the run rule. On April 7, the Gaels dominated Saint Peter's by 10-0 and 16-2 scores. On April 11, they split with Fairleigh Dickinson, dropping game one, 4-1, before storming to an 11-0 victory to close out the day.
• Jasmine Temple is the team's leading batter, with a .281 batting average and a sluggin percentage of .453. Her .331 on-base percentage is second to Tori Danner's .361.
• Alana Evans, who holds a 7-5 record, has a team-best ERA of 2.28. On the season, she has racked up 118 strikeouts and allowed just 72 hits.

 
Scouting The Stags

• 5-2 in their last seven outings, the Stags' most recent meeting was a 4-0 loss at Boston College.
• Amanda Ulzheimer leads the team's qualifying hitters with a batting average of .395. Courtney Hankins (21) has the most RBI on the Fairfield roster.
• Katie Kudlacik holds a 3.07 ERA, the best mark on the team.
