NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Five Purple Eagles netted double figures scoring in Niagara's 84-73 defeat to the Quinnipiac Bobcats on Sunday.
Game Summary
An 11-0 run midway through the second half buoyed the visitors on their way to snapping Niagara's four-game win streak in the series.

Greg Kuakumensah helped Niagara recover from an early 17-5 deficit.
Keleaf Tate's three straight free throws gave Niagara its first lead of the half at 25-23, while Niagara's lead grew to 28-23 with 6:58 left in the half as part of an 11-0 run. Quinnipiac led 36-32 with 2:23 on the clock, but the Purple Eagles closed the half on a 9-2 run which was capped by a three-quarter buzzer beater by
Marcus Hammond for a 41-38 halftime lead.
The run continued to start the second half with five straight points to open the period for a 46-38 lead. The Bobcats responded with a 9-0 run to go ahead 47-46 with 15:28 left as there would be three lead changes and three ties in the next six minutes.
The Purple Eagles led 61-59 with nine minutes remaining before the Bobcats went on an 11-0 run in a three-minute span and eventually led by 11 points. Solomon's 3-pointer with 57 seconds left cut the deficit to 80-73, but the Bobcats went 4-for-4 at the free-throw line in the final minute.
Eagle's Eye On…
- Marcus Hammond led NU with six assists, scored 11 points, and shared team-high honors in rebounds with a career-high eight.
- Keleaf Tate had 13 points, including 10 in the second half, for his most in his last five games.
- Marvin Prochet netted 13 points to be in double figures in 19 out of 20 games played.
- Greg King tied his season-high in points for the second consecutive game with 10, while also co-leading the team in rebounds with eight. King also established a new career-high in assists with three.
- Raheem Solomon added 13 points on 4 of 8 shooting from the field.
Inside The Numbers
- Niagara outscored Quinnipiac in bench points (36-2) and in second chance points (20-6). Niagara's 36 bench points are the most since scoring 47 against Iona on Jan. 11.
- Sunday's contest marked the third time this season five Purple Eagles have scored in double figures.
- Marcus Hammond's six-assist performance was just one short of tying his career high of seven set against Iona on Jan. 11.
- There were eight ties and eight lead changes.
