LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Niagara Purple Eagles started their three-game road trip with a 97-81 setback to the Rider Broncs on Friday night.

Game Summary
The Broncs sprinted to a 9-0 lead two minutes into the game and never looked back. After Chris Barton and Marcus Hammond provided three points to cut Rider's lead to 22-10 with 12 minutes left in the opening half, the Broncs outscored the Purple Eagles, 36-17, to take a 58-27 lead into halftime.

The Broncs shot 56 percent, including making seven 3-pointers, and had 15 assists in the firsr half. In contrast, the Purple Eagles shot 27 percent from the field, including missing all 11 three-point attempts, and had 11 turnovers.  

The freshmen trio – Marcus Hammond, Dominik Fragala, and Raheem Solomon – saw significant playing time in the second half as they paced Niagara to 54 points, including nine 3-pointers, in the second frame. The Purple Eagles outscored the Broncs, 33-5, including a 21-0 stretch, in the final 6:56.

Eagle's Eye On…
  • Marcus Hammond led the Purple Eagles in scoring 15 points,  had a game-high eight assists to set a new career-high, and a team-high three steals which were also a career-high. Hammond also grabbed six rebounds.
  • Raheem Solomon was in double figures for the seventh time in the last 10 games with 10 points.
  • Marvin Prochet had a team-high nine rebounds.
