Moore Reaches 1,000 Career Points In NU's Victory Over Oakland

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Jai Moore became a member of the 1,000 Point Club in Niagara's 77-63 win over Oakland on Monday. Moore is the 25th player in Niagara women's basketball history to reach 1,000 career points.

Game Recap
First Quarter
  • Jordan Edwards opened scoring for the Purple Eagles, sinking a 3-pointer 30 seconds into the game.
  • Jai Moore added four points in the first quarter and Morgan Baughman added three.
  • The Purple Eagles led the Golden Grizzlies, 18-15, at the end of the first quarter.
Second Quarter
  • Moore scored four straight points to help give the Purple Eagles a 26-23 lead with a little over five minutes remaining in the third quarter.
  • Maggie McIntyre hit back-to-back threes, followed by a three from Adia Brisker, to extend Niagara's lead, 35-27.
  • Moore sank a bucket with about 35 seconds left in the half to give Niagara a 10-point lead, 37-27, going into halftime.
Third Quarter
  • With a little over two minutes to go in the third quarter, the Purple Eagles led the Golden Grizzlies, 49-35, with help from four more points from Brisker and four points from Olivia Mason.
  • A trey from Moore started the Purple Eagles on an 8-0 run, which also included points from Valentina Pepic, Brisker and Dagny Davidsdottir, and Niagara led Oakland, 59-41, at the end of the third quarter.
Fourth Quarter
  • The Purple Eagles maintained their lead for the remainder of the game and, with 21 seconds left in the quarter, Moore evaded a defender and hit a step-back three to reach exactly 1,000 career points and help NU to a 77-63 win.

Eagle's Eye On…
  • The win against the Golden Grizzlies is Niagara's highest-scoring game this season.
  • Moore led Niagara in scoring with 21 points.
  • Emerald Ekpiteta led NU in rebounding with 11 rebounds.
  • Brisker recorded the first double-double of her career with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
  • McIntyre added 13 points and Mason had a career-high eight rebounds.
  • McIntyre led Niagara in steals with three.
