Softball Continues Florida Road Trip At Under Armour Showcase

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara softball team continues its Florida road trip March 6-7, competing in the Under Armour Showcase. The Purple Eagles will face Penn (10:00 a.m.) and South Dakota State (2:30 p.m.) on March 6 and Penn (10:00 a.m.) and Western Michigan (2:30 p.m.) on March 7.

Last Time Out
  • The Purple Eagles defeated the Binghamton Bearcats, 6-2, on Monday, March 5.
  • Jennifer Timm led NU with two hits and Taylor Moody had a team-high two RBIs, as well as hitting her first career triple.
  • In the circle, Karsen Cotton improved to 2-2. She threw a complete game, striking out one and allowing only three hits.

On the Field: Niagara Purple Eagles (4-9)
  • Timm leads the Purple Eagles at the plate, batting .333, and has a team-high 11 hits.
  • Jerri Ann Orfano leads NU in RBIs with 10 and Kelsey Harrigan has a team-high eight runs scored.
  • In the circle, Sierra Bertrand (2-2) leads the Purple Eagles pitching staff in strikeouts with 20 in 28.0 innings pitched. Cotton (2-2) has fanned 15 in 26.2 innings pitched and has an ERA of 1.84.

On the Field: Penn Quakers (0-5)
  • Sam Pederson leads the Quakers at the plate, batting .333. She also has a team-high five hits.
  • Raven Houck and Jessica England each have a team-best two runs scored.
  • Jennifer Brann (0-1) leads the Quaker pitching staff in the circle. She has struck out 13 batters in 15.0 innings pitched and has an ERA of 2.33.

On the Field: South Dakota State Jackrabbits (6-5)
  • Abbey Murphy leads SDSU with 17 hits and 13 RBIs. She is batting a team-best .447.
  • Julia Andersen leads the team in runs scored with 10 and Mallory McQuistan has hit a team-high three homeruns.
  • In the circle, Madison Hope (3-1) and Taylor Compton (3-4) have each fanned 15 batters. Hope has an ERA of 5.64 and Compton has an ERA of 7.22.

On the Field: Western Michigan Broncos (6-10)
  • Mackenzie Swinehart leads the Broncos with 21 hits.
  • Aspen Williams has hit a team-high six homeruns and has a team-best 14 RBIs and 12 runs scored.
  • Jordan Kurth (2-3) leads the Bronco pitching staff in strikeouts with 26 in 28.2 innings pitched. She has a 5.13 ERA and has held opponents to a .267 average.
