EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Purple Eagles baseball team was defeated by Michigan State, 5-1, in the third game of the teams' four-game series on Saturday.

Game Recap
	- The Spartans took the early lead, 2-0, in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back. MSU scored once in the second, fourth and seventh innings to take a 5-0 lead over the Purple Eagles.
- In the top of the ninth inning, Battaglia hit a sac fly to left field, scoring Joseph Tevlin, but it was not enough to overcome the Spartans' 5-1 lead.
Inside the Numbers
	- Battaglia and Serrano each had a team-best two hits and Battaglia had one RBI.
- Michael Gabriele had one double.
- Zachary Kolodziejski (0-1) took the loss on the mound. He struck out one and allowed four earned runs in 4.0 innings pitched.
