- "I'm extremely proud of the effort we put forth tonight," said head coach Peter Veltri. "We showed great character and composure in coming back and dominating the majority of the game. I was also impressed with the play of our younger players, as they provided the necessary spark to get us going tonight. It's great to see our confidence grow each and every game."
Game Recap
- Binghamton came out fast on offense, taking 11 shots within the first 18 minutes of play, but the Niagara defense held strong and the offense created quick chances.
- In the 25th minute, a cross from the left side from Araujo put Bicknell in the perfect position to tap in a shot from six yards out and give the Purple Eagles a 1-0 lead over the Bearcats.
- In the 36th minute, Binghamton scored and the Purple Eagles and Bearcats went into halftime knotted at 1-1.
- Binghamton quickly took the lead in the second half, 2-1, with a score in the 47th minute. But Niagara was undaunted and, in the 82nd minute, Araujo banked a shot off the left post to tie things up, 2-2.
- Niagara and Binghamton remained scoreless for the remainder of regulation. A defensive battle ensued, leaving both teams scoreless in two overtime periods to end the game in a 2-2 draw.
Inside the Numbers
- Van Nuland's nine saves are a career-high.
- Araujo led Niagara with four shots and three shots on goal. Bicknell added three shots and Eva Bachmann, who was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week prior to the game, had two.
