NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – The Purple Eagles baseball team picked up a huge 17-8 win against Quinnipiac on Monday to sweep the season series with the Bobcats.

Game Recap
- The Bobcats started the game off strong, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning to take the early lead. Niagara answered with one run in the bottom of the first; Peter Battaglia hit a sacrifice fly to score Kirwer.
- Niagara wrested the lead from the Bobcats in the bottom of the second. RBI doubles from both Cullen and Kirwer put NU up, 5-4.
- In the bottom of the third, Geoff Seto went yard, scoring three runs to put the Purple Eagles on top of the Bobcats, 8-4. It was Seto's first homerun of the season.
- Quinnipiac scored once in the top of the fourth, but the Purple Eagles dominated in the bottom of the inning, scoring eight runs to take a commanding 16-5 lead. Trevor McCauley, Owen Dziados, Joel Brophy, Kirwer and Battaglia each had one RBI in the fourth and Cullen had his second RBI double of the game.
- Niagara tacked on another run in the bottom of the sixth; Battaglia flied out to left field to score Julian Gallup.
- Though the Bobcats scored twice more, the Purple Eagles came away with the commanding 17-8 victory.
Inside the Numbers
- The Purple Eagles now have sole control of the top spot in the MAAC. Niagara's 7-2 MAAC start is its best since 2004, when the team also went 7-2 in its first nine conference games.
- Cullen had a team-high four RBI and four hits.
- Battaglia, Seto and Kirwer each had three RBI and Brophy, Dziados and Kirwer each had three runs scored.
- Matthew Brash (5-0) remained undefeated on the mound. Brash struck out five batters and walked only one in 5.0 innings pitched.
