NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara women's soccer team closes out its four-game home stand, hosting Navy on Friday, Sept. 2 at 7:00 p.m. and then heads to Olean, N.Y. on Sunday, Sept. 4 to take on Little 3 rival St. Bonaventure at 1:00 p.m.
On the Field: Niagara Purple Eagles (1-2-1)
- Laura Ortiz leads Niagara with a team-high eight shots and has the team's lone goal so far this season.
- Ortiz and Courtney Betts both have a team-high four shots on goal.
- Goalkeeper Shania van Nuland has 13 saves and a .812 save percentage in her four games played. She also has two shutouts on the season so far.
- Through the first four games of the season, Niagara has outshot its opponents 54-42 and has a 27-16 shots on goal advantage.
Last Time Out
- The Purple Eagles were edged by Cleveland State, 2-0, in a game that was stalled twice due to inclement weather on Sunday, Aug. 28.
- Niagara created chances early in the match; in the third minute, Emily Phillips took a shot on a through ball from Ortiz which went wide. Eva Bachmann and Hadley Bucken followed up with two shots in the fifth minute; both were blocked by Cleveland State.
- In the 21st minute, the Vikings got on the board; Kaila Sargema, assisted by Haleigh Shingary, chipped it in over van Nuland's head on the right side.
- The Purple Eagles struck early in the second half; Breanne Guevara headed a shot on the goal in the 51st minute of the game, but it was saved by the Vikings' keeper. Amelia Gulley followed up with a shot a little over a minute later, but it went wide.
- In the 84th minute, Cleveland State extended its lead on a Toni Dickson free kick from 25 yards out, which sailed into the top right corner of the goal.
- Gulley led Niagara with a team-high three shots and two shots on goal. Bachmann followed with two shots, one of which was on goal.

- This is the first meeting between the Niagara Purple Eagles and the Navy Midshipmen.
Last Meeting with St. Bonaventure (0-1-1)
- The Purple Eagles and the Bonnies last faced off on Sept. 11, 2015. St. Bonaventure defeated Niagara, 3-1.
- Haillie Price, assisted by Kori Thorne, scored the goal for Niagara. Price had a team-high five shots and three shots on goal.
