Purple Eagles Topped By BYU

PROVO, Utah – The Purple Eagles were defeated by the Brigham Young University Cougars, 14-1, in their first-ever meeting on Thursday.

BYU (12-1) got off to an early 3-0 lead and kept Niagara scoreless through the first two innings. Geoff Seto scored Niagara's (2-12) lone run of the game in the top of the third inning. Seto, who was already on base, advanced to third on a pitching error, which was followed by an error by center field that allowed him to score.

In the field, Michael Fuhrman led the Purple Eagles with five putouts. He also had one assist. On the mound, Cody Eckerson (0-2) faced 23 batters in 4.0 innings and took the loss.
