Niagara Returns To The Pool, Hosts Buffalo Friday

In their first dual meet since Nov. 14, 2015, the Purple Eagles men's and women's swimming and diving teams face off against the University at Buffalo Bulls at the Oxy Aquatic Center. The team is coming off a strong finish at the Zippy Invite where three school records were set in relay events.
 
Last Time Out
 
  • At the Zippy Invite in Akron, Ohio from Dec. 4-6, the men's team finished fourth out of seven teams while the women's team finished sixth out of eight teams.
  • The women's relay team of Sydney Kligys, Annie Eckhardt, Julia Casolo, and Emily York broke the school records in the 400 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay, finishing with respective times of 3:59.57 and 3:35.71.
  • The new men's 400 freestyle relay record was set by the team of Robert Brown, Nick Rogers, James Crumm, and Eric Ebert.
  • Andreas Rintel took seventh place in the 200 IM with a career-best time of 1:55.83.
  • Daniel Ronen placed fifth in the 1650 free (16:29.73) and seventh in the 500 free (4:41.50).
  • Ryan Monteleone took fifth in both the one- and three-meter diving events, scoring a 252.75 in the one-meter dive and a 252.4 in the three-meter dive.
  • Several women's swimmers set season-best times at the Zippy Invite. Sydney Kligys posted a 24.28 in the 50 free, her best finish of the season.
  • Clare Curran (2:30.92), Eckhardt (2:37.29), and Bridgette Ehrmann (2:34.02) all swam their best times of the season in the 200 breaststroke.
  • Brianna Smith (56.24) and Santana Sawma (1:00.24) set season bests in the 100 free.
 
Scouting the Bulls
 
  • Last season, the Purple Eagles were swept by Buffalo in a meet on Jan. 10, 2015.
  • Niagara's men's team lost 140.5-81.5, while the women were defeated 147.5-88.5.
  • The last meet that the Bulls participated in was the Bucknell Invitational in Lewisburg, Pa. from Nov. 20-22, 2015.
  • Buffalo's men's team finished second at the three-day invite with a combined score of 1476 points, while the women's team finished with 1073.5 points to finish third.
