Price Leads Women's Soccer To Second Road Win

VESTAL, N.Y. – A pair of goals by senior forward Haillie Price lifted the Niagara Purple Eagles to a come from behind 2-1 victory over the Binghamton Bearcats on Friday afternoon.

"We showed some mental toughness tonight battling back from a goal down to get the win," head coach Peter Veltri said. "Defensively we were very stout and offensively we created some good scoring chances. Claire was outstanding in goal again tonight and Price scored two very nice goals."

Binghamton got on the board first when Stephani Church capitalized on a corner kick from Leighann Bennett in the 11th minute, flicking the ball toward the near post and in to put the Bearcats in the lead.

Niagara got the equalizer in the 36th minute, when Price scored her second goal of the season on a header following a corner kick from Kori Thorne. NU broke the 1-1 tie just 57 seconds into the second half, as Amelia Gulley placed a long ball into the box, where Price was waiting to flick it over the keeper's head and in for the eventual game winner.

Price, named to the Preseason All-MAAC Women's Soccer Team, now has all three of Niagara's goals this season, two of which have secured wins for the Purple Eagles. She also had a game-high seven shots on the day, increasing her total to a team-high 19 on the season.

Niagara (2-1-1) returns to the pitch when it travels to play the University at Buffalo on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m.
