Box Score 2 NIAGARA UNIV., NY- Niagara softball fell in both games of its doubleheader against the Quinnipiac Bobcats on Saturday, 8-3 and 2-1.
Niagara 3, Quinnipiac 8
Niagara (1-25, 1-7 MAAC) gave starter junior Sydney Smyers an early lead, when senior Ambur Farmer scored on an Amanda Werth single to right field making the score 1-0. However, Quinnipiac sophomore Keilani Finley hit a two-run homer to give Quinnipiac (8-23, 4-4 MAAC) a one run lead in the top half of the second.
Niagara regained the lead when senior Desarea Maldonado hit a two-run shot of her own in the bottom of the third off Quinnipiac starter freshman Casey Herzog. Quinnipiac would go on to score six unanswered, giving senior Hannah Lindsley the victory.

The Purple Eagles found themselves in a pitcher's dual between junior Taylor Grieger and Lindsley, in game two against the Bobcats. Quinnipiac took the early lead in the third, when Paolucci doubled down the right field line, scoring was Barba.
Niagara tied it up in the bottom half when sophomore Chanelle Ward singled to rightfield scoring was Maldonado. The game would stay tied at 1-1 until the top of the sixth when freshman Maria Ascher singled through the left side for the Bobcats pushing across what would turn out to be the game winner.
Next up for Niagara is a trip to Syracuse to play the Orange on Wednesday, April 15 before coming back home to play Siena in a doubleheader next Sunday.
