Niagara Hosts Saint Peter's Friday

The Niagara Purple Eagles return home to host the Saint Peter's Peacocks on Friday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.

The last time Niagara was home, the Purple Eagles came away with a dramatic 105-100 double overtime win over the Quinnipiac Bobcats to improve to 24-11 in February home games since 2007.

On Nov. 20, Niagara and Saint Peter's met in the earliest conference game in the nation. The Purple Eagles withstood a late second half run to defeat the Peacocks, 61-59. Karonn Davis' 3-pointer with 1:12 left proved to be the game-winner as Niagara pulled out its first conference opening win in five seasons.

NU has won six of the last seven meetings and will look to sweep the series for the third time in the last four seasons.
 
Tipoff Tidbits
•  Over the last eight games, Emile Blackman is averaging a team-best 19.4 points while shooting a team-high 50 percent. Blackman is now leading NU in scoring with 13.3 per contest.
•  Blackman became the first Purple Eagle to score 30-plus points this season when he netted a game and career-high 32 points at Quinnipiac on Feb. 8.
•  Ramone Snowden has scored in double figures in 10 of the last 11 games (13.5 points per game).
•  Karonn Davis set a new career-best in assists with a game-high nine versus Quinnipiac on Feb. 1 to set career-highs in assists in consecutive games. The nine assists are the most by a Purple Eagle since Juan'ya Green had nine against Saint Peter's on March 2, 2013.
•  Davis has had at least five assists in four of the last seven games and has 29 assists to five turnovers in the last seven games.
•  Dominique Reid was named MAAC Rookie of the Week on Feb. 2 after averaging 15.5 points per game and 8.0 rebounds per game versus Marist and Quinnipiac.
•  Dominique Reid recorded his team-leading third double-double of the season with 18 points and a game-high 15 rebounds against Marist on Feb. 6 to become the first Purple Eagle with consecutive double-doubles since Bilal Benn in 2010. Reid is one of nine players in the conference with at least three double-doubles.
•  Cameron Fowler dished out a career-best six assists to share game-high honors against Quinnipiac on Feb. 8.
•  Niagara's 105 points against Quinnipiac are tied for 27th most by a team in a MAAC game.
•  Niagara's 22 assists against Quinnipiac on Feb. 1 are the most since having 23 versus Marist on February 6, 2011.
•  Head coach Chris Casey was an assistant coach at Saint Peter's for eight seasons and helped the Peacocks qualify for the 1991 and 1995 NCAA Tournaments. The 1995 team will be inducted into the Saint Peter's Athletics Hall of Fame on March 28.
•  According to KenPom.com, Niagara is the FIFTH youngest team in the nation. NU has 12 underclassmen on the roster.

•  Saint Peter's arrive in Western New York off back-to-back wins and as winners of three of its last five games.
•  Saint Peter's leads the MAAC in scoring defense and is 41st in the nation allowing 60.3 points per game.
•  The Peacocks are led by seniors Desi Washington (14.5 ppg), Marvin Dominique (13.7 ppg), and Tyler Gaskins (9.6 ppg).
•  Dominique currently sits in fourth place in the MAAC with 7.8 rebounds per game.

Reid Garners MAAC Rookie Of The Week
•  Forward Dominique Reid was tabbed as MAAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week announced by the league on Feb. 2
•  Reid averaged 15.5 points per game and 8.0 rebounds per game as the Purple Eagles split their home MAAC weekend.
•  Reid led Niagara in scoring with a career-high 20 points and led NU with 10 rebounds en route to his second career double-double in the double overtime win over Quinnipiac.
•  Reid played in 42 minutes and made a career-best 10 of 12 free throws. Reid scored seven of his 20 points in the two overtime periods, including making two free throws to tie the game at 92-92 with 28 seconds left to send the game into the second overtime.
 
Niagara In February
•  The Purple Eagles are 38-26 in the month of February since the 2006-07 season, including a 24-11 mark at the Gallagher Center.

•  NU defeated Quinnipiac, 105-100, in double overtime on Feb. 1 at the Gallagher Center.
