Men's Basketball Hosts LIU Brooklyn Saturday

The Niagara Purple Eagles return to the Frank and Barbara Layden Court at the Gallagher Center on Saturday at 3 p.m. to face the Long Island Brooklyn Blackbirds for their final home game of the calendar year.
 
Tipoff Tidbits
•  In their last outing, the Purple Eagles were edged by St. John's, 48-44, in the 100th all-time meeting between the two Vincentian Universities. A potential game-tying 3-pointer by freshman Marvin Prochet rimmed out with 33 seconds left in the game as St. John's held off a late NU rally.
•  Matt Scott notched his second career double-double with 14 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Emile Blackman scored a game-high 16 points, including a career-high seven free throws, at St. John's.
•  Freshman forward Dominic Robb has recorded a career-high in rebounds with seven in consecutive games (Monmouth & St. John's), including playing in a career-high 24 minutes against the Red Storm.
•  Matt Scott leads the Purple Eagles in scoring (16.3 per game), rebounds (73-7.3 per game), assists (32-3.2 per game), steals (20-2.0 per game) and free throws made (43-4.3 per game).
•  Niagara is second in the MAAC with 374 rebounds and NU is on pace for its highest rebounds per game average (37.4) since the 2008-09 season (38.9).
•  Common Theme: NU has led at halftime in all three wins this season (Brown, North Carolina A&T, Quinnipiac).
•  The Purple Eagles made a season-high 10 3-pointers, with eight coming in the first half, against Youngstown State.
•  The Purple Eagles held Brown to a 30.7 field goal percentage, which is the lowest allowed by a MAAC team this season.
 
Double Down
•  Matt Scott earned his second career double-double with 14 points and a game-high 16 rebounds against St. John's on December 9.
•  His career-best 16 rebounds are the most by a Purple Eagle since Bilal Benn's 18 rebounds against Mount St. Mary's on Nov. 25, 2009.
•  The 16 rebounds are tied for the second most in the MAAC this season.
•  Scott's double-double against St. John's was the first double-double by a Purple Eagle against a Power 5 conference opponent since Bilal Benn had 16 points and 13 rebounds at Auburn on Nov. 13, 2009.
•  Scott's two double-doubles on the season (Brown, St. John's) are tied for first in the MAAC with Siena's Brett Bisping, Canisius' Jamal Reynolds and Saint Peter's Quadir Welton.

•  After winning its first three contests, LIU Brooklyn has lost three of its last four entering Saturday's contest.
•  Jerome Frink (17.6) and Martin Hermannsson (15.6) come into the game third and sixth, respectively, in scoring in the Northeast Conference.
• Aakim Saintil's 2.4 steals per game puts him tied for 25th overall in the nation.
•  Jerome Frink is second in the NEC in rebounds per game with 8.7.

•  The Purple Eagles lead the all-time series with Long Island Brooklyn in the series which started during the 1935-36 season.
