Softball Shut Out At Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Niagara Purple Eagles fell to in-state foe and ACC member Syracuse, 5-0, on Tuesday in the first meeting between the teams since 2011.

Niagara (13-25) kept it close with freshman pitcher and the team's leader in eight offensive categories Bridget Hogan in the circle, but the Purple Eagles only mustered three hits off of SU's Sydney O'Hara.

The Orange (21-22) scored two runs in the first inning on consecutive home runs. SU added another run in the third while O'Hara helped her cause by driving home two runs on a double in the fifth inning.

Niagara continues its midweek road trip at Youngstown State on Thursday.
