Softball Hits The Road To Face Saint Peter’s, Manhattan

The Purple Eagles will continue their road trip this weekend as they travel to Saint Peter's and Manhattan this weekend.

Niagara (11-16, 2-2 MAAC) is looking to add to its recent success which has seen the Purple Eagles win three out of their last four games, including a doubleheader sweep of conference rival Iona.

The Purple Eagles are led by freshman Bridget Hogan, who is tied for the team lead in hits with 23 and leads the team in RBI with 12.  Brittany Richberg shares the top spot with 23 hits to go along with her four RBIs. Desarae Maldonado has been productive with 20 hits, 11 RBI, and is the Purple Eagles' leader in batting percentage at .317.

Jennifer Sansano, who boasts an impressive 2.20 ERA, has an 8-3 record including winning her last two starts.

Saint Peter's (4-26, 0-4 MAAC) is on a 12-game losing streak, and is still looking for its first conference win of the season.  The Peacocks are led by Nicole Olmedo, who leads the team with 26 hits and also shares the team lead in home runs with three. Samantha Storms leads the team with 15 RBI to go along with her 17 hits.  Senior Erica Colon is the team's top pitcher with 45 strikeouts and a team best 7.13 ERA. NU has won the last 10 meetings.

Manhattan (11-19, 1-3 MAAC) is coming off a sweep of Wagner, including a 6-5 victory which took 12 innings to decide.  Kate Bowen has been the Gaels top performer with an impressive 35 hits.  She is also the team's leading pitcher with a 6-5 record to go along with her 3.47 ERA. Elena Bowman has also been impressive with 28 hits and also leads the team in home runs with 8 and RBI with 30. The Purple Eagles have won three straight in the series.
