Softball Drops Two on Final Day of Rebel Spring Games

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Fifth inning runs in both contests led to the Purple Eagle's downfall as the Niagara softball team fell twice on the final day of the Rebel Spring Games on Friday. Niagara first gave up a 5-2 decision to La Salle before dropping the final game to Akron, 2-0.

With La Salle (3-7)  holding a 5-0 lead in the fifth, freshman Chanelle Ward smacked a sixth inning 2-RBI single to get NU on the board. Niagara threatened the three run advantage after loading up the bases on two outs in the sixth, but the Explorers' pitching staff got out of the jam to keep its lead.

Against the Zips, Akron (5-2) again scored the majority of their runs in the fifth, taking a 2-0 lead which grew to 3-0 in the seventh.
