Purple Eagles Fly South To Face Davidson Saturday

The Niagara Purple Eagles fly south for a non-conference tilt against the Atlantic 10's Davidson Wildcats on Saturday, December 13 at 7 p.m.

The Purple Eagles defeated the Wildcats, 83-72, last season at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, N.Y. in the first-ever meeting between the programs. Niagara held Davidson, one of the most efficient shooting teams in the country, to well below its average in field goal percentage (36 percent) and 3-point percentage (20 percent). 

Offensively, the Purple Eagles placed four in double figures, including Ramone Snowden with 12 points, while shooting 48 percent from the field in the game and 52 percent in the second half.
 
Tipoff Tidbits
•  Freshman Matt Scott led the Purple Eagles in scoring versus Canisius on Dec. 6 with a career-high 13 points while going perfect from the field (5-for-5), behind the 3-point line (2-for-2) and at the free-throw line (1-for-1).
•  Rayvon Harris set career-highs in blocks (3) and in minutes (33), while tying a career-high in 3-pointers with two against Canisius on Dec. 6.
•  Redshirt sophomore Emile Blackman led all scorers with 21 points at St. John's on Dec. 2, which are the most by a Purple Eagle this season. Blackman leads the team in scoring with 12.0 ppg.
•  Sophomore Ramone Snowden recorded his second double-double of the season with 13 points and a game-high 12 rebounds at St. John's on Dec. 2. Snowden, who has already doubled his total from last season, ranks third in the MAAC in double-doubles.
•  Snowden's 6.3 defensive rebounds per game ranks him third in the MAAC and 41st in the nation. He is third in the conference and 69th in the NCAA with 8.3 total rebounds per game.
•  The Purple Eagles have committed the fewest fouls (117) in the MAAC and rank 31st in the nation.
•  According to KenPom.com, Niagara is the SIXTH youngest team in the nation. NU has 13 underclassmen on the roster.

•  He is also third in the conference and 41st in the nation in defensive rebounds with 6.3 per game.
•  Snowden is on pace for the most rebounds in a season since Bilal Benn's 298 (9.9 per game) during the 2009-10 season.
•  Snowden has the top two rebounding outputs of the season for Niagara with 12 at St. John's and 11 at Saint Peter's.

•  Davidson is one of the top offensive teams in the nation. The Wildcats are second in points per game (89.9), third in 3-point field goals made (12.1), third in free throw percentage (78.2), third in assist/turnover ratio (1.86) and fourth in assists per game (19.3).
•  Four Wildcats are averaging in double-figures scoring – Tyler Kalinoski (17.3), Jack Gibbs (15.8), Peyton Aldridge (11.6), Jordan Barham (10.5).
•  Kalinoski is 12th in the nation in 3-pointers per game (3.6), 15th in 3-point field goal percentage (50 percent) and 12th in assist/turnover ratio (4.14). Gibbs is 10th in the nation in free throw percentage (94.4).
