Women’s Soccer Held At Siena

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Junior goalie Claire Feiertag made a season-high eight saves as the Niagara Purple Eagles were held to a scoreless draw at Siena on Wednesday.

Feiertag's eight saves are tied for her second most in her career and she had five of her eight saves in the second half. On the season, Feiertag has a 0.69 goals against average which is second in the MAAC.

Despite the scoreless draw, there were plenty of shots in the game as NU (6-2-4, 2-1-2 MAAC) outshot the Saints, 21-20. The Purple Eagles' best scoring chance came in the 25th minute when Naomi Giovino strike at the post.  Siena (5-5-4, 2-1-2 MAAC) also had a shot hit the post with Andrea Pereira's effort in the 80th minute.  The game went into overtime where neither team could provide the winning goal as the all-time series remains tied at 11-11-4.

"This was a tough game and I was pleased with the effort that we put forth today," head coach Peter Veltri said. "I thought we had some excellent scoring chances in the first half, but just couldn't capitalize on them. Hopefully, we can get find our scoring touch for Saturday's home game."

After three straight away matches, the Purple Eagles return home to host Saint Peter's on Saturday at 2 p.m.
