Bachmann’s Goal Pushes Niagara Past Peacocks

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Eva Bachmann's second-half goal lifted the Niagara women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over the Saint Peter's Peacocks on Saturday.

Niagara (7-2-4, 3-1-2 MAAC) unleashed a season-high 34 shots, but only needed one of those shots to go into the net to pull out the win. The Purple Eagles improved to 5-1-1 in home games, including 2-0 against MAAC opponents, en route to their seventh win of the season.

NU peppered SPU's (1-13-0, 1-4-0 MAAC) goal all day; NU finished the game with a 34-2 shots advantage, including 16-0 advantage at halftime. However, the Purple Eagles were unable to score despite having numerous chances.

Niagara's keeper, Claire Feiertag, did have to make a key save in the second half on a dangerous shot by Greta Vogel in the 50th minute. The Purple Eagles finally broke through in the 71st minute. Haillie Price's shot in the box was saved, but Bachman followed up to score her third goal of the season.

The Purple Eagles will host Rider on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
