TicketsThe Niagara Purple Eagles look for their first win of the young season when they take on long-time rival Robert Morris in a home-and-home series. Friday's game will also be NU's first conference game of the season.
Taking On The Colonials- Several Purple Eagles have fond memories going up against Robert Morris. Hugo Turcotte (11/17/12), Tyler Akeson (10/19/13), and Brock Edwards (10/19/13) all recorded their first career goal against the Colonials.
- Phillip Nasca (10/19/13) recorded his first collegiate point against RMU while Patrick Conte (2/13/14) collected his first assist.
- TJ Sarcona collected a career-best two assists on March 21, 2014.
- Former Purple Eagle captain Matt Caruana became a member of the 100-point club with a pair of goals against RMU on Nov. 9, 2007.
History 101- The series began with a 4-4 draw on Jan. 28, 2005 at Robert Morris, before the Colonials took game two of the all-time series 6-0 the following day.
- Niagara's first win over the Colonials came on March 5, 2005 when it took game two of that season's playoff series by a 3-1 score. It won the series with a 5-1 victory in game three.
- Before the 6-5 OT loss on Feb. 16, 2013, Niagara was on a seven game unbeaten streak (3-0-4) in games vs. the Colonials at the 84 Lumber Arena dating back to 2008-09 season.
- In the previous 11 meetings at 84 Lumber Arena, NU is 4-2-5 dating back to the 2007-08 season.
Last Time Out- The last time these teams faced-off was in last season's AHA Semifinals.
- Niagara fell 5-4 in overtime after an incredible third period rally. Trailing 4-2 with just over three minutes remaining in regulation, the Purple Eagles stormed back with a pair of tallies in a 47 second span via Stephen Pietrobon and Turcotte to send the former CHA rivals into extra time.
- RMU won the game with a goal at the 14:56 mark of the extra period when a deflection of a bouncing puck found the back of the net.
Double-Digit Victories- With last season's win against Robert Morris on Feb. 13, NU picked up its 10th win of the season, marking the 18th consecutive season (every season the program existed) that the Purple Eagles recorded double-digit wins.
Remember The CHA- This weekend's series sends two former CHA Rivals to do battle.
- There are four former CHA teams in the AHA: Niagara, RMU, Army, and Airforce.
- The Purple Eagles went 6-5-1 against those three opponents. They have racked up a 71-35-13 record all-time.
